Sure. From what I understand, Weku already runs its own blockchain with its own coin(s), so they are technically a cryptocurrency as real as Steem. The big difference is that Steem is bought and sold on some exchanges, so it's easy to know how much people are willing to buy and sell it for. Weku is not currently on any exchange at all, so we really have no way of knowing the value of the coin. But there's nothing that limits the Weku coin from being just as "real" as Steem.
