RE: Musing Posts

Yes world peace is possible. Peace is a relative. The world is a macrocosm of sub units, made up of billions of people dispersed across the nine continents which comprises nations, states, cities, communities, families and individuals.

Why do we need peace? Because we are at war. At war with ourselves and at war with others. War built on the premise of religious differences, races, beliefs, security and political grounds.

Nations have become skilled at developing weapons to annihilate another. The government too isn't helpful because we have leaders who would rather serve their bellies than serve her citizens. It isn't strange these days to see family members at variance with one another. Crisis resulting from jealousy, translating into hatred.

World peace can be achieved if we begin from the smallest units that make up the world; that is, individuals. we can't be at peace until we begin resolving the conflict within us. Conflict of choices, dreams, pursuits and so much more. If an individual can resolve the conflict within himself, respect other people's choices, tolerate others then he can transfer same to his family.

Peace is an individual as well as a collective responsibility. It begins with us. If we can strive for peace within our homes and families, it will translate to the society and then to the states, nations and world at large.

Peace is possible as well as achievable but we must be willing to make the sacrifice to forgive, to respect another, to accept others irrespective of their colour, histories, background, religion and whatever differences they may have come with. After all, life is built on diversity. We have to understand this if we must achieve the peace that we seek.
