7 Day Wayback Music Challenge (6) - A comet appears

A very indie comet

Today challenge day number 6: A comet appears by the Shins. So the first time I learned about the existence of the Shins was through this scene from the movie Garden State (2004). Since then I have been closely following album release dates. And that is how I came across this song:

It is very indie so I am not sure if it is everyone's cup of tea. The melody which is buildt on chords is very different from ordinary music.

My interpretation of the lyrics is a bit sad. I imagine it to be about someone who is pretending to be someone he is not. His environment determines his life path just like a wild comet. This makes him feel like his life is a failure. So he tries to find something (other than himself) to blame it all on. But he realizes all those things are just pies in the skies full of lies.

I will try to find for a more positive song for the finale of thie challenge :)
