Music Monday (feel free to add your own music)

The aim is simple, to banish those Monday blues with an eclectic range of music chosen by Steemit friends both old and new.

Music Monday.jpg

Every Monday I intend to post a music video (and a few words explaining my choice) I invite you to join me by doing same in the comments section below. As the forum (hopefully) grows my aim is that we begin to inspire our fellow Steemians to broaden their musical horizons by listening to the music that inspires us. The only thing I ask is that (where possible) every song we listen to is played nice and loudly on headphones or speakers in order that we capture it’s true essence.

As more Steemians join this venture there is also going to be the possibility of being rewarded for our musical tastes via the amount of upvotes each song receives. That said please never feel awkward about posting a track, a guilty pleasure or even your own musical ventures. I have an extremely wide range of musical interests but also understand that music like beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder. As such I may play my chosen song, but who am I to define what constitutes good music.

Hey I hope everyone has enjoyed a great weekend! My choice this week is one that uses wildly inventive lyrics and screaming guitars that speak to my Celtic roots, equally it's a track that I feel is guaranteed to banish those Monday blues and put a spring in your step. I hope you enjoy.

This isn't about making me Steem so please save your upvotes and reward the songs that you feel are worthy, although equally if my song stands out to you then I'd appreciate the vote. Any resteems would be much appreciated, all are invited and welcomed to join us in sharing and listening to a diverse range of music.

Another classic blast from the past here my friend.
Thirty odd years ago these dudes were for a short time the biggest band around.
The Smiths - This Charming Man.
I know Morrisey is a bellend however Johnny Marr is a fucking legend and besides they did some fucking great tracks and their lyrics were often hilarious, anyway buddy enjoy.....

Ah man this really takes me back @tremendospercy what a brilliant and inspired blast from the past, I haven't heard this in years .. this really captures the essence of the age. Funnily enough, I only read an interview with Morrisey the other day in which he stated that he "could no longer listen to The Smiths" .. well he must have grown deaf as this is brilliant. Thank you for sharing!

Hard to believe how massive they were.
I saw Johnny Marr a few years ago and he was awesome, what a truly talented guitarist and musician, the partnership of his music and Morriseys lyrics were awesome.
Like I said before so many of their tracks are hilarious and brutal like this from
‘Sweet and tender hooligan’........

Poor woman
Strangled in her very own bed as she read
But that's o.k.
Because she was old and she would have died anyway.

Classic poetry

Chill. Deep. Somber.

Rough translation:

“A strange bird
in the black nights cries
It is the soul that you hurt
And it says its sorrow

If the dead love,
And I head towards hades
I won’t love until you arrive
For us to be again together”

@perceptualflaws

Hey my friend .. another welcome but unexpected surprise .. this is so far off my musical radar that without your introduction I would never know it existed and that's what #musicmonday is all about! I really enjoyed this track, and I thank you for sharing it @hrissm

Glad you enjoyed it! I owe you a translation and now another...

Btw I forgot my headphones today so I have some listening to catch up with too!

i like it i like it. thanks for sharing.
One of my favourites of Monday Blues
Led Zeppelin - I Can't Quit You Baby

Ah man, you're preaching to the choir here @banditqueen I love Led Zeppelin and I also love these blues flirtations!! I saw Page, Plant, Jones with Zac Starkey on the drums in 1992 .. but I would have loved to of see these guys in heir heyday!! Each member a genius in their own field but wow Page's guitar and Plant's voice were made for each other! Thank you for the music @banditqueen

How could I forget about this? Bartender, bring me another scotch and keep em coming.

already on vodka and lime ;)

another one Led Zeppelin - Since I've Been Loving You

A little something different outta me:

Loved this @jakeybrown the guitar work is reminiscent of JJ Cale whilst at the same time they've managed to carve out a very unique sound of their own, brilliant stuff! I'm also loving the chilled vibes on this one. Thank you for the music and for inspiring another very worthy addition to my playlist ;)

Love this! Leonard Cohen meets Johnny Cash and Nick Cave?

Oh I have heard about this deliberator was telling me to look out for it on discord, excellent, and nice to meet you.
Do you "Gary" ?

Hey @shepz1 welcome to #musicmonday and thank you for this inspired choice of musical genius. Yes I know Gary Moore, he was one of the greatest guitarists out there and I followed him all the way from Thin Lizzy .. loving the chilled blues sound on this. An excellent choice, thank you for the music!

Thank you, glad you liked it, and I must say it was a very nice introduction to meeting you, thank you.

Damn I was too busy to get in early and listen all day!

How about a little Radar Love? I bet not many people know about Golden Earring but everyone recognizes this song. Not really a one hit wonder but DAMN this song has everything and is old as the hills! Extended version no less.

An absolutely brilliant stonecold classic @zekepicklemam this just never gets old!! So cool, so attitude/presence .. seriously awesome and a very welcome reintroduction .. thank you for the music my friend .. this was the perfect way to start my day .. it's blasting out the office as I type ;)

Seeing that I might have helped start your day right starts mine off just as well. I always liked that song but it was a trip on the highway with a friend who had never heard the song that really made me listen to all the ups and downs and changes.

Love the monday post!

One of my favourites! Thanks for sharing.

Try to sit still through this!

I tried .. and failed miserably :D .. purely because this is a barnstormingly brilliant track and equally because it's an inspired choice that captures the essence of #musicmonday Thank you for another brilliant musical selection @kittyandcheese

I love this, and I don't think I've ever heard it before! Maybe it wasn't a hit in the UK.

You might have heard it on the Guardians of the Galaxy Soundtrack, which is when I first did. This version is better than the live one, imo.

It sounds vaguely familiar. Lovely positive 70s vibe.

Great choice on your track!

Here is a retro masterpiece. RIP Frank Tovey

Hey @sequentialvibe the video wouldn't play here so I nipped over to youtube to have a listen. and I'm very glad I did! Loving the otherworldly feel that's inherent with the music and video, of it's time and yet equally timeless!! a tough balancing act for sure! Thank you for another inspired choice of music my friend.

Happy Monday all.... time for a little XTC

Love XTC and this is a brilliant track .. I also love making plans for Nigel! Did you ever hear the two albums they recorded as The Dukes Of The Stratosphere? pure 60's style psychedelia and they are excellent! Thank you for sharing this t blast from the past my friend .. thank you for sharing!!

my pleasure I love there sound. I will have to check out The Dukes of The Stratosphere not sure I have heard that one.

I love this choice from a group I've never heard of before. It reminds me a bit of the Pogues.
I'm just astonished by all the amazing musical talent from Steemians, and I thought I'd post this song from @paintingangels as it's just gorgeous, and it's also about someone who was sleeping rough. Enjoy! https://dsound.audio/#!/@paintingangels/20180422t165032955z-broken-baby-blue-original-song

Aww, thank you so much! ❤️💕 I appreciate that a lot! 🌝

Wow what a beautiful song .. thank you for sharing @natubat plus I'd like to take this opportunity to say what a beautiful voice and style @paintingangels has. This was a beautifully refined, restrained tour of emotional force. I'm constantly amazed at the level of talent on this platform and this song is testament to that fact! Thank you for sharing my friend .. I really enjoyed this!
