Music Monday (feel free to add your own music)

in #musicmonday6 years ago (edited)

The aim is simple, to banish those Monday blues with an eclectic range of music chosen by Steemit friends both old and new.

Music Monday.jpg

Every Monday I intend to post a music video (and a few words explaining my choice) I invite you to join me by doing same in the comments section below. As the forum (hopefully) grows my aim is that we begin to inspire our fellow Steemians to broaden their musical horizons by listening to the music that inspires us. The only thing I ask is that (where possible) every song we listen to is played nice and loudly on headphones or speakers in order that we capture it’s true essence.

As more Steemians join this venture there is also going to be the possibility of being rewarded for our musical tastes via the amount of upvotes each song receives. That said please never feel awkward about posting a track, a guilty pleasure or even your own musical ventures. I have an extremely wide range of musical interests but also understand that music like beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder. As such I may play my chosen song, but who am I to define what constitutes good music.

I hope everyone is well has enjoyed a good weekend. My choice this week is from band I saw a few weeks back. Eccentric and potentially certifiably insane .. but then again many of the most interesting people are :) I've seen a few bands this year and these guys definitely stood out as something very different ;) . Anyway, see what you think.

This isn't about making me Steem so please save your upvotes and reward the songs that you feel are worthy, although equally if my song stands out to you then I'd appreciate the vote. Any resteems would be much appreciated, all are invited and welcomed to join us in sharing and listening to a diverse range of music.

Nice to see your post again! And crazy but kinda enchanting music!

Here is my song of the day. Actually - past couple of days.

Hey @spellmaker .. hope you're well my friend. Great choice, I've been listening to Cypress Hill since they first started and I'm loving the hazy, crazy vibe that this one exudes. Funnily enough, I was only listening to the above mix at the weekend. Thank you for the music, I really enjoyed this one :D

nice one @spellmaker, didn't realize they had a new album out x

Headphones on and listening to this as I type, have a good week my friend.

Hey my friend, another great track! I was only thinking the other day that I haven't heard anything from these guys for a while , I will have to take a look into what they're doing these days. This track is a testament to how good they are and I thank you for inspiring this trip down memory lane.

All good here .. just back from a few days away visiting some friends, returned with a cold .. but hey you have to take the rough with the smooth :D

All good my friend, glad you liked it, and maybe for the best that you missed the shit show going on here where stinc took everyones vote power to nothing a few times over, somehing I am not letting go for a while. :-)

Hello my friend it's been a while and well today I'm intrigued by a particular song that's been done by so many artiste really but this one is particularly by alt J and it's titled Dancing in the moonlight it's very slow and rhythmic and here is it definitely

Hey my friend, hope you've been well. Good to see you back with this beautiful rendition of a fantastic song. I love the ethereal, dreamlike vibe of this version .. put the headphones on and drift away on a beautiful river of music! Thank you for sharing.

Yeah I've been definitely been well really and it's always splendid seeing your music Monday,im glad you definitely enjoyed this really, it was the soft ethereal vibe to this that made me even love it. Cheers buddy!

Ah yes! I was just talking progressive music with my buddy @slobberchops and have been jamming progressively ever since.

Devin Townsend Project is his current gig with progressive heaviness and I encourage any progressively minded music love to check that out if you have not. This one is from 20 years ago when he was doing this stuff with Strapping Young Lad. So heavy, so progressive. So technical.

Not for everyone but man I love it.

Man, that certainly woke me up!! Although I can still remember Napalm Death so I can take it :) Some great guitar licks going on here. You're right, definitely not for everyone .. but definitely one for the mosh pit ;) Thank you for the music @zekepickleman

nice one my friend, I would love to see them live they seem really crazy and I can imagine they put on a great show. Here's my one for this week. Something more upbeat and one to get you on your feet, a great fusion, om shanti xxxxx make sure and listen to it loud xxxx

Hey my friend .. Glad you enjoyed my choice, they really are a band that have to be seen live so if you ever get the chance .. grab it :) I love Dub FX and I love this fusion of culture and music. Like in my post, the vibe of the music that speaks to the primordial memory that we are born from and swim in the vibratory sea .. that we are one. A brilliant choice this week @trucklife-family .. thank you for the music, I very much enjoyed your choice.

I'm not sure what I've just watched! It made me laugh and dance at the same time.
My offering sounds quite mainstream compared to Henge! I heard this track as I was climbing at the Climbing Centre, and it just got under my skin. I wrote down some of the words and did an online search when I got home to find out what the song was. The melody is quite complex and unusual - must be very difficult to sing, but I love the plaintive quality of the singer's voice, and the way it soars and then melds in with the music.

Why didn't he build a house? The house needs only a shovel and a forest nearby. Primitive houses as a dugout are built within 3 days of work. Where did he get his money for a jacket? Why he does not grow products does not sell them? Where is this man's land? Each should have 10-20 hectares of land. Why is he poor?

Thank you @natubat .. Henge are a fantastic live band, completely nuts .. but by the end of the gig they held the entire crowd in the palm of their hands. Thank you for your choice, never heard this song or the band before, but this is great .. something quite haunting about it, something that draws you back for a second listen ;) Thank you for sharing my friend, I really enjoyed this introduction :)

Glad you enjoyed it! I agree - it has a haunting quality.

I love this and you're absolutely right, the vocals are amazing.

Stayin' with the Irish theme this week. This was apparently inspired by the comment attributed to Maggy Thatcher to the effect that a man still taking the bus after age 26 was a loser.

What a great reply to the old milk snatcher :) Never heard of these guys before but this is a great track! The hatred of Thatcher inspired many brilliant compositions (and this is no exception) .. hell it ran so deep it even created entire genres! An excellent and left field choice my friend .. I'm really enjoying the sounds of your home country. Thank you for the music @deirdyweirdy

Ha that's not the pong I remember :D Takes me back to the early day's of acid house and lots of dancing .. although I skipped the Mad Max inspired outfits lol Excellent choice my friend and equally thank you for inspiring this trip down memory lane :)

"Water Under the Bridge" by Adele. It's an absolute classic

Thank you @empress-eremmy I will be sure to take a listen :)

um ... rap we promote a healthy lifestyle, be a warrior and serve the motherland.

I washed the songs, death is not terrible, life in captivity is terrible. Living for life always choose freedom. If the choice between life in captivity and death, you need to choose death.

Hey I like this @rosgard .. Russian rap? Never heard it before but I'm enjoying the flow and beats so thank you for the introduction. The track and video also work perfectly together. Thank you for the music my friend, I very much enjoyed this one.

You always have kind words - thank you.
