Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirits

In early 1991 Nirvana moved the label from Sub Pop to DGC (David Geffen Company) a major label with a wider distribution and more funds. One of DGC's most successful orbits was "Guns N Roses", Nirvana also joined Gold Mountain, an artist management company where Sonic Youth, a contemporary punk band that Kurt admired shelter. Nirvana continued his journey by releasing a second album titled Nevermind recorded in May 1991 and completed a month later.

Initially, DGC Records hopes to sell 250,000 copies of Nevermind. However, his first single album "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is rapidly gaining momentum, thanks in part to the often played music of MTV music videos. When they toured Europe at the end of 1991, the band discovered that the oversold-threatening shows that the television crew became a constant presence on stage, and that "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was almost everywhere on radio and music television. By Christmas 1991, Nevermind sold 400,000 copies per week in the United States, and on January 11, 1992, the album reached number one on the Billboard album charts, displacing Michael Jackson's Dangerous album. The album also topped the charts in various countries around the world. Cobain entered as one of the best songwriters in his generation at the age of 24 years.

He had met Michael Cali and Jessica Hopper two guys who guarded his house while Frances with Courtney was in Los Angeles who was doing a promo for the band's latest album and track Kurt's whereabouts. Upon his return to the United States, Cobain became a recluse, spent much of his time alone with his drug addiction, got worse and worse, went in and out of the clinic for healing, and often escaped from the clinic because he was not strong and felt increasingly crazy with his addiction.

Finally, in April 5, 1994, at the guest house behind his Seattle home, Cobain committed suicide. He placed the shotgun into his mouth and shot it, killing himself quickly. He left a suicide note addressed to fans, as well as his wife and his daughters.
