Level 42 [part.1]

Level 42 is an English rock and jazz-funk band that has many hits throughout the world and England in the 1980s and 1990s. The band gained notoriety because of the characteristic of Mark King bassist (bassist and vocalist level 42) who are very good at slapping and popping on the bass in every musical arrangement they present, but on the other hand he can keep the vocal quality in every action the stage. The mix between Mark King's vocals and Mike Lindup's backing vocals that took the falsetto sound range also influenced the musical beauty of the band.
Before becoming level 42, this band was originally called project M that jazz-funk fusion. After multiple personnel changes, the M project changed its name to level 42 with Mark King's formation as a bass and percussion guitarist, Mike Lindup as keyboard and percussionist Boon Gould on guitar and saxophone, and Phil Gould as a drummer. Level 42 was contracted by Elite Records in 1980. Their first album was produced by Polydor records in 1981 with their first single "Love Games". Then their second album titled THE EARLY TAPES release in the same year.

In 1982, Level 42 released their third album, THE PURSUIT OF ACCIDENTS, in this album Level 42 went into their jazz-funk instrument and occasionally experimented with pop songs. Both of their singles, Weave Your Spell and The Chinese Way, are included in the charts. The fourth album titled Standing in the Light was launched in 1983. This fourth album became the new beginning for Level 42 because in this album they are less experimenting like the previous album.
TRUE COLOR album is a combination of several musical genres: funk, power-pop, mid-tempo rock and moody ballads. During 1987, Phil Gould and Boon Gould left Level 42 because they suffered anxiety from fatigue during their years of tour. Boon Gould quit the band and toured Madonna but still wrote songs for Level 42.
