Since 2013 without releasing a new song, Avril Lavigne recently broke the fasting of almost 5 years with the touching "Head Above Water".
The singer has already stated that the song (which is the first official single from the new album... yet without further details revealed) talks about a difficult period of her life, especially about her illness and recovery in recent years.

Particularly speaking, I was very surprised (positively speaking) with this kind of music. It's not her style, but she showed a lot of maturity and sensitivity in the construction of this letter and also in the arrangements of the melody, thus evidencing a clear career advance that could result in an amazing album.
