HOW TO DETERMINE A MUSIC KEY ON THE PIANO

As a pianist, one thing you need to know is how tp determine the key of a song by hearing the song and look caring it on the piano.
In this post ,I ill be talking about that...

HOW TO GET THE KEY OF A SONG
To get the key of a song, you listen and to do this perfectly you need to train your ears properly. Try lists for different songs (technical, jazz, secular, pop .....) . When listening, try to pick the root note ( DOH or 1) of the song.
If you aren't good at this yet, try doing it on different songs and see the result......

LOCATE THE NOTE ON THE PIANO

This is one part that you should get. When you get the root note of the song, you hum it as you try this look for a note in your chromatic scale that sounds like the root note. To understand chromatic scale, click here. In a full chromatic scale, you should see a note that sounds like the root note you are searching for. Im some cases the octaves might be different so don't get confused.
NOTE: There is no musical note or key that can't be found in your chromatic scale. The only difference night be the octave.

TANSPOSE OR PLAY DIRECTLY ON THE NEW KEY

This is the last part amd it's very vital. If you play on all keys, good for you cause you will just take that note as your root note and play.....
if not you still have an option. Click on the function button and search for transpose,when you see this you now calculate:

*If the note happens to fall before the key you are familiar with you transpose backwards. Eg
If it is 4 notes behind, you press the minus button four of times.
If it is 2 notes behind, you press the mi us button twice.....and so on

• If the boys happens to fall after your major key, you transpose forward. Eg
  If it is 3 notes after, you press the plus button three times.
  If it is 5 notes sfter, you press the plus button five times...and so on
