A Tribute To Al Jarreau
Al Jarreau the legendary jazz musician passed away on Sunday morning. His musicianship brought many hours of joy to me over the decades and countless hours of musical pleasure to the multitudes. According to Wikipedia:
Alwin Lopez Jarreau (March 12, 1940 – February 12, 2017), better known by his stage name Al Jarreau, was an American singer and musician. Jarreau received a total of seven Grammy Awards and was nominated for over a dozen more. Jarreau is perhaps best known for his 1981 album Breakin' Away, for having sung the theme song of the late–1980s television series Moonlighting, and as a performer in the 1985 charity song "We Are the World".
In my video I play the jazz classic I Remember Clifford as tribute to Al Jarreau, one of the all time greats of jazz.
I Remember Clifford by Benny Golson
He was a king uncrowned
I know I'll always remember
The warmth of his sound
Linger so long I'm sure he's still around
For those who heard they respect him yet
So those who hear won't forget
The sound of each phrase
Echoes the time uncountable by days
The things he played are with us now
And they'll endure should time allow
Oh yes I remember Clifford
I seem to always feel him near somehow
Every day I hear his lovely tone
In every trumpet sound that has a beauty all it's own
So how can we say someone so real has really gone away?
I hear him now, and always will
Believe me I remember Clifford still.
Here is my tribute to Al Jarreau...
