A weekend in the Kingdom of Elfia

Situated directly on the Dutch border with Germany is a small town called Arcen. For one weekend each year, the historical castle grounds of Arcen becomes a different world: known to it's visitors as the Kingdom of Elfia. Known from the outside as a fantasy festival, Elfia is many things for different people, but most importantly it is a place where a person can be anything that he or she can dream of free from the bounds of judgement. Thousands come from all over Europe sporting magnificent costumes, talents and visions. They come to experience parades and sword fights, learn potion making and hear talks about magic, see body painting and fire spinning, eat fresh food and drink mead from a horn, and of course, listen to MUSIC!

2019 was our third Elfia, and this was by far the most enjoyable. Once again we were joined by our friends Kallidad from Australia and made new friends over the entire weekend. We saw Victor and Linda and were able to share a drink and lovely conversation catching up on their travels. We met a band from Belarus, Shaman Jungle, who instantly become brothers and took us traveling far east of the Netherlands with their music. We sang, we danced, and we jammed.

We all came as individuals and left as Elfians.
