It is absolutely amazing how music just creeps into my head .... no obvious reason this song popped into my head this morning and I found the lyrics going through my head like an ear worm... again and again. Obviously then I had to work out who sang it ... and that was easy although she is not well know. Methinks possibly a 'one hit wonder'

New York to L.A - Patsy Gallant, circa 1976 or so

So listening to that tune was like eating too much sugar , so I think we should temper it with a little bit of easy 'rock' from the same era. One of my absolute all time favorite muso's ( with or without The Silver Bullet Band...yup, you guessed it)

This was my matric year (1976) and I used to take study breaks every hour and I measured the break by listening to one side of an LP (Vinyl). This album featured frequently.

Night Moves - Bob Seger released 1976

I just got serious goose flesh reading some of the comments below the video.... I will share a few

This brings back memories of when times were better and life was easier and it just makes me want to break down and cry

These people sum up how I feel about music.... a life without music is like a sky with out birds or a landscape with no trees. DESOLATE

In 1973 Bob Seger released what for me was his best bit of writing... I just love the lyrics and the saxophone. Try find him doing it live with the Silver Bullet Band. Awesome...crank it up and get lost in the music

Turn the Page - Bob Seger 1973

Later in the evening as you lie awake in bed
With the echoes from the amplifiers ringin' in your head
You smoke the days last cigarette, remembering what she said ...........

One of the greatest autobiographical pieces ever written, in my humble opinion.

Makes me miss my skating rink days,,, lol I would just grab anyone and pull them out to the floor so I could skate,,, if I was lucky, the boy would know how to shadow waltz, or box, or silhouette,,, perfect song

Damn, this has turned into a Bob Seger tribute .... but just one more, no apologies !!

I'm a 71 years young retired, Vietnam Veteran, and I start listening to Bob's songs back in the early 70's. His songs have, and continue to be, the soundtrack of my life!
Thank you Bob!

This makes me cry after all these years. I'm not young and still alone. So much has left me hurt. Still running against that wind like I did when I was young. The body ages but your mind is stiil young.

I hope you enjoyed the read and mostly the music. I know what I am doing tonight when I escape the office

Bring it on Bob !!!

Namaste

Sort:

The version I knew was by Jon English

By an odd coincidence, he also starred in a mini series called Against The Wind, which had nothing to do with the Bob Seger song

I don't think I've ever heard that first song, but hubby said it sounded vaguely familiar. However, definitely know Bob.

I think that's one of the saddest things about the otherwise awesome advances in music, that most kids nowadays will never have the experience of listening to full albums, one side at a time.

True speak .... music for the modern generation is one dimensional. We had the cover art, the physical album and of course the sound.
