The Mashup that made Fragma Vs. Coco - Toca's Mirical (1999)

In and around the mid to late 1990s house music had splintered into many different sub genres. You had your classic house, or Chicago house, you had deep house, hard house, progressive house, hand bag and quite a few others. Around 1996 a faster more harder beat and baseline driven version of hand bag started to gain popularity in clubs across the UK and Europe. Hard bag was more mainstream sounding and more commercially viable than a lot of the other forms of house that came before it and gained greatly in popularity during this time.

In 1999 one of the most popular tunes to emerge at this time started life as a DJ bootleg mix of two other hard bag records. By mixing Coco's I Need A Miracle with Fragma's Toca Me British DJ Vimto created a trance classic hit that many will still remember. Vimto pressed an illegal bootleg which quickly gained massive attention from many leading DJs and became an instant underground hit in the clubs. After seeing the success of the bootleg version Positiva, the label Fragma were signed to, decided to do a proper legitimate release of the track in 2000.

The song was critically acclaimed globally and many critics cited it as one of the best dance anthems ever produced due to it's accessibility and catchiness of the melody and lyrics. The record sold over 3 million copies worldwide.
