In this and the next three episodes of the series, I will reveal the origin story of the Experienploriment project. It begins with three funky dudes kicking out the jams in Albuquerque, New Mexico: Joey Noise, Morgan Farlie, and me!

Together we comprised the Tonal Rhythm Experiment, or Tre. Get it? Tre? There were three of us.

We sought to explore the possible dimensions of improvisational heavy metal. Joey was the drum wizard, whilst Morgan and I summoned gnarly stuff with guitar wands. Sometimes we'd switch around. Sometimes we'd make bird calls. Pretty much anything was on the table.

We found, much to our surprise, that some of it was good. This inspired us to go further and to try newer and more mind bending assemblies. We experimented with a podcast similar to a variety hour called 'Trecast' and we experimented with making our own music videos. Occasionally, we'd invite other musicians or artists to join us in a greater collaborative effort.

As happens with bands, Tre stopped playing together. Nonetheless, I have a lot of respect for Joey (affectionately referred to as Saint Polyrhythmos) and Morgan (equally affectionately referred to as Saint Polyphonos). I learned a lot from playing with these guys. Not only did my musicianship improve, but so did my state of mind, and my comprehension of life flourished.

After Tre dematerialzed, Morgan and I wanted to continue exploring our musical tendencies and inquiries. Thus, Experienploriment was born as a collaborative improvisational guitar effort.

The song you are about to hear is called Lamashtu. It was the first song composed by Tre. Lamashtu refers to an ancient Sumerian demon. I hope that you enjoy this, the first episode of the Experienploriment project. Thanks for listening, and click follow to see future episodes!
