Guilhelm Desq - Electric Hurdy Gurdy as you've never heard before... (ecoTrain)

in #music7 years ago

It's not every day you hear something like this. Guilhelm Desq plays an electrified Hurdy Gurdy like you've never heard it played before.

It's a wonderful magical instrument, the Hurdy Gurdy. The sound is out of this world. I think I might have to build one...

Check out Guilhelm's website for more of his music and his wonderful description of how he makes it.

Look out for his upcoming album - Visions - described here in his own words :

'This album is heavily influenced by the fantasy world that has always amazed me. From there was born a character, The Gurdy Wizard, creator and wanderer of imaginary worlds. Each track of this album is for me a tale, a journey or a feeling, in which the Gurdy Wizard is enchanting you and inviting you to stroll.

Abandoned castles, sandy deserts, enchanted forests, dragons and dragonflies, snowy mountains, here are some of the scenes that we will cross together in this album.'

Nice, never heard of this instrument, has some kind of fiddler sound which i don't see compatible with the mechanics of it. Straight out of a fantasy world, sure you didn't bring that with your time machine?

It's like a violin, but instead of a bow, the handle turns a wheel which rubs against the strings causing them to vibrate. And instead of pressing the strings with your fingers to change the notes, you press the buttons which then push down the strings. It does give me an idea for the story though....

are you serial!? That is one crazy instrument!!! Whaaaat!?

Hurdy Gurdys are amazing. they've been around for hundreds of years

i dont think you should try to make one.. we may never see you again!

Possibly true. It is also a form of interdimentional transport. Many people turn the wheel of a hurdy gurdy, never to return. That's why you don't see them very often.

ahhh THATs WHY!.. right makes sense.. i mean ive only ever ONCE heard of one on Neils Heavy Concept Album ( no one but me ever heard that album)

and now here..

ok in case you are wondering!

Wow....What an Amazing crazy Awesome instrument .

Hurdy Gurdies rock! That's what trance music sounded like in the 17th century
