"And he died and made me alot of money " is the title of a is song I wrote a few years back and it was inspired by this article.

Two things immediately struck me about this article. The first thing is the callousness by which some people are quick to profit off someone's death . Especially in this case where is was the singer's own brother.Lurking in the shadows watching his brothers success and then running into profit like a tow truck at a head on collision.
Secondly a person’s record collection is a very special thing , with stories for every record. In the same vein people who grew up in my era, hold the same relationship with mix tapes that were made for them in their formative years. However if you just sell someone one of your mixtapes or in this case record collection. You are only selling the physical item but you will never know what memory each record held. This correlates to Steemit where the person profits from expressing their feelings about a given situation, as opposed to the evil brother (Facebook) who profits from selling your content to advertisers.
Finally in this song I reference one of the greatest wordsmith,musician and poet I have ever come across, Gill Scott-Heron. With Gill Scott-Heron he has less value because he was too controversial and struggled with drugs. However for me his lyrics are so pure and still resonate loudly today. For example from the song "we almost lost detroit."
