Music: Wanna Help Tetrahedroseph Decide The Next Splurge Album's Title?

in #music5 years ago

Tetrahedroseph is Splurging Music and It’s Going To Become A Concept Album.

WTF is a "splurge?"

I'm taking the original definition... er impression of splurging and applying it to concept album production. I wanna get paid for this music. Waaaht!? A musician trying to market their own music?!? I'm such a sellout. My bills are fake and I don't want to eat. I know, it's weird. Please forgive me.
That was sarcasm.

The name of the concept album was originally "Bruce Lee Vs Jackie Chan Hip Hop Battle."

I want that to be the name.

I probably can't use those names.

It's gong to be a trilogy no matter what happens.

Album Info:

This album is an interruption to the current series of albums I am slowly releasing. I'm not talking about bowel movements. I'm talking about a backlog of music (Unit 05) that I need to stop sitting on. At the same time, I'm talking about 30 new splurge songs. Thirty new songs created quickly for the first album of a new "Tetrahedroseph Presents" trilogy.

The dominant genre of this first album and it's trilogy will be Electronic/Electronica. There are hints of sub-genres such as Drum and Bass, Trance, Dubstep, Metal, Experimental... The classifications are crazy to me, but I hope there are many soothing ambient parts to this album. The album title has Hip Hop in it, but I'm still adjusting my aim. I'll get there.

No matter what happens...

The first album will have songs names that relate to Jackie's world.

The second album will have songs titles that relate to Bruce's world.

The third album will be a mixture of the two... or it will be something magical. I don't know yet. I'm open to suggestions, but haven't I asked enough already?

How I Make The Songs:

I'm using GarageBand for everything. All sounds have been created with my iPhone's GarageBand app. It's a very useful tool for song writing and I've enjoyed using it for a long time. Yes, I've used ProTools, Digital Performer, and Logic. GarageBand is similar to Logic. I like to be the guy that does everything within the iPhone GarageBand box. I figure, if we are expected to be addicted to them, I should be addicted to something I love that simultaneously creates something tangible.

Music is neat.
Most of the songs will contain the "world" instruments that are available on my iPhone7's GarageBand. I have also see these referred to as "Asian Instruments." The instruments are a mixture of cultures. My album is holding close to a Chinese theme/culture.

琵琶 Pipa- is a four stringed Chinese musical instrument and I used it for rhythm and solo stuff. I probably detuned bass type parts it in a few songs.

二胡 Erhu- is a two stringed Chinese musical instrument and I usually use it for solo parts. It makes lots of cool weird sounds.

箏 Koto- has lots of strings... I guess I can count the ones on the app... they usually have 13 strings... The Koto is a Japanese musical instrument. I use it like a detuned guitar to try to create bass lines. The Koto in GargeBand has a function that allows me to play it like a hand drum. I set the notes/scale that I'm using in the song and... let it rip, BRO!

古箏 Guzheng- has lots of strings too, 21 usually, I might count them. The Guzheng is a Chinese instrument and I used it for rhythm parts and large strums. :)

In addition to these playable midi instruments, many of the songs will feature the usage of a set of Live Loops sequencers that are available for download to my Garageband's live loop library. They are called "Chinese Traditional" and "Chinese Modern." I use a few prerecorded loops, cut them up and rephrase them, but the Live Loops sequencer streamlines this technique and many things. It uses automation and helps users stay in rhythm and phrases. It's easy to play lots of the instruments quickly. The trick is in the arrangements... I hope... I'm learning too.

These instruments have inspired this concept album. Sometimes I use the auto play feature. I usually cut that up though. I also play the instruments with my phone's touch screen. That probably sounds like gibberish, but when I talk to my splurge friends, they understand. Thanks for your patience.

Most of this album is inspired by convenience.

What's Next And When?!

If I've posted this, it means I've completed the 29th song for this album. After I finish song 30, the next phase begins. The next phase would normally require many days/time balancing, editing, mixing, and maybe mastering. I'm not doing all that anymore. It's ironic how the potential for music quality has improved, yet we use tinny ear buds and low quality downloads. Do those ear buds make bass? Anyway, music a forgiving phenomenon these days and the purpose of this project is to practice abundance and speed.. i almost said efficiency.

So, a trilogy with the first album coming from Jackie's bio, the second would be catered to Bruce Lee's bio, and the third and final would come from both with a possibly undecided resolution. The question is the name of album. Those are not the names, just the concepts.

Questions you've all been waiting for:

🅰️ Should I keep "Bruce Lee Vs Jackie Chan Hip Hop Battle" and move this nomenclature into the second and third albums? Keep a similar name pattern? (I think I'll get busted for using those names like that.)

Not good, not fun, why am I asking? Oh yah because I want the album to catch some synergy from those famous dudes and their associated industries/fan bases. Marketing is sneaky n stuff.

🅱️ Should I drop "Bruce Lee Vs Jackie Chan Hip Hop Battle" and change the album names a mixture of their names? It would look like "Jackie Lee Vs Bruce Chang Hip Hop Battle."

The first album would be "Jackie Lee Vs. Bruce Chan Hip Hop Battle." The second album would be called "Bruce Chan Vs. Jackie Lee Hip Hop Battle." Conceptually speaking, this would make congruency easier to maintain.

𝐂. Stop all this gentrification. I see song titles that I don't like.

Spoiler Alert!

The image below features first album songs titles. These songs titles are seen in the title of the project files, also seen in the image below.

Light trivia, silliness, and good ol' click bait, that's all.

Yup, that's it. Now the hardest part is to figure out the album cover/art and create a final quick mix with some 2019 style mastering.

The next post will feature song titles to make you giggle and cringe and a first look at a first draft album cover.

Thanks for reading and supporting.

Sort:

Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Asian musical instruments.

Even your typo kept went with the theme...

It's gong to be a trilogy

Get it? The gong is a classical Asian percussion instrument.

That was a nice coincidence... Or was it intentional. 🤔

Lol, yes, gongs!!! Nice catch thanks.Lots of gongs in these songs! I love’em.

By the way, nice typo from you too “kept went.” 😆 Did you want to say “kelp wench?” 😆

Wait you said wench. Reading is hard. 🤪

Dang it. Lol.

Kelp wrench? Brb heading to the patent office.

Speaking of Er Hu, this was one of my favorite track from a Chinese film.

Here is someone's cover with it

Honestly, it's very similar to violin in that it invokes emotions.

Cool! Thanks for the links. I like those Erhu parts. Yes, similar to violin and making sounds that resemble crying. Along the same lines... the Erhu instrument control in the app has a button that makes a sound like a horse when you press it. I haven’t really figured out how to use it in a song. I will for the next set of 30 splurge songs.
