MY Original Song & Music Video (TRIP HOP)
My music comes with no shortage of controversy. I come from a very small town, and stem out of a very religious social community. In my break away stages, I had what some would see as a complete turn around in my focus. As I started to turn against the boxes of thinking and all these judgements and put downs I was feeling, and embrace the inner voice inside myself and express this through art and sound, many believed I was walking in the ways of the world and in a path of sin. As I started to love myself and feel like a strong and beautiful woman, people around me felt I was being overly sexual and started judging my intentions and my looks, critiquing my fashion and weight.
I decided to make a song called Bottle me up with Belgium producer Uedra. Its a Trip Hop song, with very direct lyrics. This song and its video was a come back to a lot of small town talk going around about me and my music. This music is a journey for me! Every song is a way of self expression for the things im going through and my life path. I am growing and I am learning. I am brave, I am strong and I am kind. I dont need your negative thoughts about me! Bottle me up, im exploding like fire, shut me up oh here I go. ;)
I wanted to do the video with a strong contrast of intention. I had slight hints of nudity, but with an uninviting expression, a non sexual demenor, yet a sexual presence. I wanted to express nodes of emotion to feeling insecure and heavy or body conscious in moments and also confident and beautiful in other moments. I wanted every single emotion to translate. I know people will take this and run in a million directions.
