#Guitar - self awarness

Today i want to discuss about things that may seems to be good and they are, but if you will focus too much on one of them it can lead to schematicity of your playing and to frustration.

Feeling overwhelmed is a common problem that sooner or later touches every musician. Especially popular among beginners and intermediate guitarists. Overwhelming is caused by the adoption of too much knowledge and the inability to use it in a practical way. Many guitarists think that the more knowledge and theory they learn in a short time, the better musicians will be. In general, however, it is the other way around.

It's amazing how many people learn things that have nothing to do with their dream goals. Developing areas of technic that you will not use is a waste of time. For example, if you want to be a heavy metal guitarist, learning finger picking will not be the best solution for you. Of course it is very good to know different techniques, but in the first place you ALWAYS follow your main goals. Other times will come for another styles.

Sometimes it can be for example spider finger excersise, sometimes constant improvisation with backing tracks or focusing only on covers from tablature. That last thing was actually my Achilles heel : ). Try to mix every type of specific playing to develop your creativity and technique together. Like i said above if u play Rock or Heavy Metal try do go in that direction. The best solution is to create a basket with different minor categories that mainly interest you and try to match every element with each other to make them integrated.

If you have the ability to create a good curriculum and supervise yourself, during its implementation it's great - do it. Remember, however, that you are responsible for your results, frustrating, stress and lost time. It's much easier and faster to achieve your goals with a great teacher whose strategy has proven itself many times.

Having a clear, positively formulated, achievable and measurable goal is the key if you want to become a great guitarist. Meanwhile, many people do not realize it at all. Starting their studies, they usually just want to play a few songs and ... there is nothing wrong with that. Over time, however, these goals must change.

Set goals, but remember that they are not permanent and must change with the development of your skills and musical awareness. Think about them, write them and start realizing.
