Gusli.

Gusli - the oldest stringed plucked musical instrument, under the name of which in Russia are understood several varieties of recumbent harps. Psaltery psalms have a resemblance to the Greek psalter and the Hebrew Kinnor; These include: gusli Chuvash, gusli Cheremis, gusli clavicles and gusli, resembling the Finnish kantele, Latvian kukles and Lithuanian kankles.
We are talking about instruments that existed on the territory of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Finland and some other European countries. These instruments are united exclusively by a constructive feature: a string fan, a string holder, a ring row and a resonator located under the strings for the entire length of the string. In the design of each individual instrument, features, exceptions, are possible, but the listed four parts are generally present.
The history of both the Slavic gusli, the Finnish kantele, the Estonian canal, the Latvian coke, the Lithuanian kankles and all the instruments not mentioned here from the same list is reduced to one root at some stage. Only on what? No one has accurate information. There are too many assumptions about the "where" and "when" of this stage in the literature. But only assumptions, only guesses.
There are also opinions that string instruments of such a plan came from the east (China - the string Guzin instrument is known long before Christmas), and the version that the Romans brought lyrical instruments far north during the colonization ... And how many opinions are expressed in different countries about the identity of local types of tools! The Finns say that for the first time the kantele was made by Veememoynen (the source of "Kalevala").

Гусляр. Мне как то нравилась такая музыка, да и сейчас то-же.
This is so cool! I remember reading about gusli in fairy tales from my childhood in USSR. Sadly, I think gusli lost popularity and slowly fading away. Guitar replaced gusli a long time ago and I don't see that reversing anytime soon. Thanks for this post though!
Interesting! I resteemed it :) love to read information about instruments
There's just something about a handmade, wooden instrument that makes it special.
