Dear music-lovers,
how has your weekend been so far? I hope you listened to lots of great music and maybe even shaked your limbs dancing (maybe with the help of the #danceweekend).
Personally sunday afternoons are the time for me, I listen to some more chilling sounds. That's why I want to share this list of cover-songs based on traditional and unusual instruments with you.

Korea: Luna Lee - Voodoo Chile (Jimi Hendrix Cover)
Luna Lee is a Korean musician, who plays contemporary music with a Korean traditional instrument called the gayageum. The first Gayageum dates back to the 6th century.

Pakistan: The Sachal Studios Orchestra - Take Five
The Sachal Studios Orchestra, based in Lahore, Pakistan, playing an innovative cover of “Take Five,” the jazz standard written by Paul Desmond and originally performed by The Dave Brubeck Quartet in 1959. Before he died in 2012, Brubeck called it the “most interesting” version he had ever heard.

Ukraine: Adele – Hello (traditional instruments cover)
20th of November Ukrainian musicians Maksym Berezhnyuk, Yaroslav Dzhus and Valentyn Bogdanov have performed an instrumental version of the Adele's song "Hello" with the pianoforte accompaniment and traditional ethnical instruments accompaniment such as bandura (Ukrainian traditional string instrument), duduk (ancient Armenian double-reed woodwind flute), pan-flute, pipe and djembe.

A cool band using childrens' toy instruments.

I have seen the Smooth Criminal a couple of times because I play the shakuhachi. It shows up every time you search for it.
Man, you are a real whizz-kid :-) When will we hear a performance of you playing the shakuhachi on #openmic ?
No one said I played well :) Actually I am a rather new to it. I am a reasonable piano player, but the flute is my main interest these days so I have considered it. The whole microphone+filming has been too complicated until now, and Phill is a hard master. But maybe when I feel a little better :)

Great find, I just don't like the singing very much. Somehow very close to the original version. I'd expected a more arabic touch...
Yes, the harp seems to be the only real arabic instrument. But he's quite nimble with those harp plucking fingers.
