Music: The Universal Language

My father is a musician, and so was his father, so you could say music is in my blood, and it's only natural that I have a deep-rooted lifelong passion for it. Personally, I love to play the guitar, but I can't call myself a musician anymore, because I haven't played in months. But I still feel very passionate about music, and I listen to amazing music from all over the world every day. My tastes are diverse and nuanced. I love good music from almost every genre: classical, flamenco, jazz, rock, blues, progressive, folk, mo-town, hiphop, reggae, electronica, and metal. I have my favorites of course, like everybody else. And I'd love to share some amazing songs with you all.

Music is the universal language. No matter where you are in the world, no matter what language you speak, or how you were raised, we can share a connection through song and dance. I listen to powerful music. I am not interested in trendy, superficial songs that are forgotten after a year. I love songs that transcend time and culture, that are shared and loved all over the world. I hope that you love these songs as much as I do. I guarantee that there's something here you've never heard before. And you'll never forget these songs once you listen to them.

I'm just going to share a few of my favorites, because I don't want this post to be too long. And I don't want to overwhelm everyone. But I may make more posts like this in the future, if this is well-received.

The first band I want to share is called Shpongle. They're an English psychedelic band that tours all over the world, and they've been making music since 1996. The band is led by Simon Posford and Raja Ram, who are two of the most renowned and well-respected pioneers in the electronic music scene. All of their albums are on youtube for free, and they'll take you on a musical odyssey like you've never experienced before.

The second band is called Porcupine Tree. They're an English progressive rock band that made music and toured the world from 1987-2010. They released ten studio albums altogether. They were incredibly talented musicians, but they never got as big as many other bands that were far less talented. That said, they still enjoyed a lot of success without going totally mainstream. They never officially disbanded, but the lead singer / song writer Steven Wilson has said that he is focused entirely on his solo career now, and there are no current plans for a new Porcupine Tree album.

The third band is called Dead Can Dance. They're an Australian band that transcends genres and musical styles, incorporating sounds from all over the world. I have only heard their newest album, Anastasis, which was released in 2012. But it blew my mind the first time I heard it, and quickly became one of my all-time favorite albums.

The fourth band is called A Perfect Circle. They are an American rock band formed in 1999 by guitarist Billy Howerdel, and Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan. Maynard shouldn't need an introduction, as he is one of the most talented and well-respected hard rock singers/song writers in the world. I am only sharing this because their newest album, Eat the Elephant, is one of the best rock albums I've ever listened to. It's message is poignant, haunting, and unforgettable. It was released in April of 2018, earlier this year.

The fifth band is called Wolf People. They're a lesser known English psychedelic rock band formed in 2005 by Jack Sharp. There's not a lot of information out there about them, because they haven't made it big yet. But I love little gems like this. They've got a raw style, very energetic and free.

Finally, one last song from Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree).

I hope you all enjoyed the music, and got out of your seats and danced a little. If you liked this post, please upvote and resteem, and follow me for future updates. Your support is greatly appreciated.
