I remember reading years ago he had Alzheimer's and he was so brave.. I believe he toured after finding out. what a devastating disease... I kept seeing this but did not know it said he died until moments ago..he will be missed.. I used to live not far from Galveston, Texas.. one of the songs he was famous for.. I grew up listening to his music. Thanks for posting @steevc
