Man where those good times, the era of the Hair Bands and Air Guitars. If you missed the 80's, I am sure that you have heard some of the Music.
There where many in this awesome era of Rock and Roll. One band that sticks in my mind is AC/DC. I spent a many of Friday and Saturday nights with the boys, playing the air guitar to "You Shuck Me All Night Long" in the parking lot of the local arcade. See we didn't have playstations or xbox, nope a pocket full of quarters is all you needed.
I spent 6 months of my life learning the Axel Rose dance, while listening to "Welcome To The Jungle, then spent another 2 to 3 months playing the air Guitar to "Sweet Child Of Mine".
And then the Air Drums where introduced, and man there wasn't A single person that I new or grew up with that didn't play the air drums every time they heard Phil Collins "In The Air Tonight".
It was the summer of 1987 and Def Leppard had released "Pour Some Sugar On Me" this song kicked so much ass that it was still number on on the billboard top 40 in the summer of 1988, one full year at number 1.
Rick Allen from Def Leppard quickly became a inspiration for me, those that dont know Or heard of Rick Allen, he Is the drummer for Def Leppard. So whats the big deal about the drummer from Def Leppard, well only that he is the baddest drummer of all times, and the man Only has 1 arm. Which this makes him a legend in my eyes.
So if you never had the chance of eating some CHERRY PIE while watching your TWISTED SISTER play with her WHITE SNAKE in PARADISE CITY,Then changes are, you are not a SWEET CHILD OF MINE that will every be WELCOMED TO THE JUNGLE even if you are BACK IN BLACK and just traveld the HIGHWAY TO HELL.
So I will leave you with the one and only SWEET HOME ALABAMA. Straight from my home state and the baddest and most played song.
Def Leppard & AC/DC reminds me soooooo much of high school dances! lol
We went and saw GnR in concert last summer. They played every song you would have hoped to hear. Axel was probably the week link from the original band. Slash & Duff were still tops!
As children of the eighties you just described our life in music thanks for the memories, Dixiesilvergirl is and always will be a head banging 80's hair band fan! LOL
