JAPAN'S GOT BEATS: Ill-Sugi & Yotaro - Love Rain

Two of my favorite Japanese beat makers flip a Jill Scott classic! (audio)

Just from seeing Ill-Sugi and Yotaro's names on this, I knew this was gonna be good. What didn't expect is how good this track would be. They essentially took a Mos Def and Jill Scott track, and channeled J Dilla at his most jazzy, funky, and soulful; complete with minimal but funky drums, some spotty sub bass, and spare but soulful keys. The result is one of the best tracks I've heard from these two yet and makes we wish these two excellent, underappreciated Japanese producers would take on more tracks like this.
