NZ Music Month's Melodic Memories (29)

I know I really only scratched the surface of homegrown talent, but over this past month we've really run the gamut of music flavours - from rock to punk to jazz to folk to ... well, anything really. It has been quite a journey, and not all music will appeal to everyone (or anyone?) but I hope you've found something that delighted your auditory senses along the way, and perhaps even inspired some fresh sounds to listen to now.

I have memories from when I was pretty young of my father showing me several autograph books filled with signatures from singers and band members he'd collected over time. He said he was an 'autograph hound'. I dearly wish I had those books now, as I would love to see just how many names, and from who, he'd got.
Maybe, when they finally invent those time machines I can pop back and nab it before it disappears for good.

I hope you've enjoyed this musical journey of (re)discovery with me. Maybe we'll do it again next year. :)

It did remind me of a couple of bands from my childhood that I had completely forgotten about. Still on YouTube though

I wouldn't have been able to do half of what I posted without being able to find clips preserved on YT. Quite amazing at the age of some of those videos, and lucky for us to be able to see now.

I didn't really touch on much of our 'current' music scene, as I enjoyed the historical aspect of the older stuff, so I'm really glad that you brought up a lot of music I glossed over. :)

It was a bit sad to read how so many of our great talents felt they needed to move overseas (mainly Oz) to try for greater success, and this is something they continue to struggle with I guess because of our country's physical isolation and relatively low population base (which is useful in other areas of life, but still...).
