Piano for noobs. A quick introduction.
Hello again! I want to show you a pretty neat setup that can teach you the basics learning to play piano. It's a great way to learn in my opinion because it makes it fun and it's like a videogame, quite like Guitar hero. Here is what you need:
- A digital piano
- Type B USB cable
- PC monitor
- PC/laptop
- Synthesia software(I know there are other options but I love Synthesia)
You don't need a monitor but it makes the setup so much better. You can use any old monitor, just unscrew the base of the monitor so you can prop up on the stand for the piano notes. Or place it on a table behind the setup, whatever is best for you.

You can use this program for free and it comes with some tracks that you can play, but for 29$(at the time of writing this) you can unlock all tracks. There are loads of songs you can play. You can also import your own MIDI files and play any song you want.
This is the setup. Ignore the awful cable management.
It looks and plays similar to Guitarhero, and it tracks your progression. There is also a point system to each song.
Screenshot of the UI after you choose a song. You can practice with one or both hands. I'm on another PC posting this and have nothing set up so it looks a bit different than what you would see, but you can get a feel for it.
A type B USB cable. You just plug that badboii in the PC and the program should automatically detect your piano.
Another angle. The piano here is a Yamaha p45. It has nice weightet keys and feels good to play, although I have very limited experience so take that with a grain of salt. If you want a digital piano I suggest researching a bit.
I absolutely love this song and I'm currently learning it myself. All credit to the youtuber Marioverehrer(https://goo.gl/bjjUfg), which is the master of Syntesia. He has loads of videos.
Anyway, that's it! If you ever wanted to learn piano, I feel this could be a very good entry point. I hope I may have inpired you a little, thanks for taking a look!
So cool! Keep up the good work!
Btw, when you learn this song we have to have little consert in the garden! I love that song <3
Thanks for a great post. I really enjoyed this detaljed post. I will use this when I start playing
I play piano. Good work.
Thank you :)
Good post, the video was enjoyable.

Great post! Teaching others while teaching yourself :D that`s the right way to do it.
