"Cryptogordo": producing with @pechichemena

in #music6 years ago

Hello Steemit!

Today I bring you a preview of a new project I am lucky enough to be doing with my brother @pechichemena, an incredible guitarist and producer. We have already shared some projects before, but this time is different, in addition to composing and producing the music, we implemented a little different work methodology from the rest of the bands.

In this post I want to show you how we work, how we produce, how we make our demos and develop our compositions.
Influenced by groups ranging from Snarky puppy, Avishai Cohen and Esbjorn Svensson Trio to James Taylor, Stevie Wonder and Toto; we have always worked as session musicians recording pop, rock, jazz, soul or whatever it is needed; We decided that it is time to make our own music.

@pechichemena and I have a Phd in bizarre things, that's why you can find in our music, names like:
-Monkey Girl
-Life Scholarship
-German Swag
-Tobul
-Mukike y Netungo
-Hot Potatoe

don't be afraid hahaha.oso.jpg

Each name comes from a story, each story is expressed in the composition. This is one of the methods that we like to use in the M.P.C. Most of the time you start looking for the name once you have the music, well, we do not haha.
Today's name is "Cryptogordo", our new theme.
We started with an idea "A" brought by pechiche on guitar from which we started to assemble the model.

Then we went to the studio to build the demo, first we set up chords progression and a simple drums beat (since it is a model, rhythmically it is very simple and its function is purely illustrative).
Then we added a bass line with which we could establish the harmony and chords positions.

Then we recorded the guitars, at this point the theme begins to take shape, this allows us to work with a clearer objective and develop the theme with all its parts. That is the objective of a demo, is a general idea to star working.

At this point we can hear the intention of the theme. Now that the "A" is complete we build a new part, with an "afro" rhythm.

This final result of the demo, its structure at the moment is A-B-A. Once we start rehearsing, the structure will change, and we will surely add a new part.

How many musician does the M.P.C have?
Well ... that's a funny thing, this project only has 2 stable musicians at the moment (@pechichemena and me). That's basically because the MPC works backwards. Why backwards ?, well, the bands begin with a group of musicians with common interests, who begin to play, propose themes, the name is the last thing you think, right?
We did completely the other way around. First we came up with the name of the band (M.P.C are the initials) and then we thought about the names of the songs. Then we take care of composing and producing the music. We did completely the other way around. First we came up with the name of the band (M.P.C are the initials) and then we thought about the names of the songs. Then we take care of composing and producing the music. We just need to get the rest of the band (a little detail, right? Ahahaha).

Finally, we like to test how our songs work under improvisation, that's why we ask @mauropit, a tremendous saxophonist part of the family and possible 3rd member of the M.P.C.
We want to incorporate a bass player and a keyboard player.

Soon there will be more news of the M.P.C!

I hope you like it and I hope it was useful to see the way we work!
