The digital world is being challenged. Check this out.

About 30 years ago everyone I knew was giving away boxes of records or throwing them out in the trash. I kept mine because I'm a music guy and always will be. I became discouraged when CD's first came out on to the market. They were hailed as an upgraded way to listen (no pops or clicks). The sound to me just seamed a little artificial. Without going into a long explanation sound is by its very nature is analog not digital. I guess that's really the issue. Check out sites like Music Direct or Acoustic Sounds and what you will see are vast amounts of re-issues of 1960's to 1970's LP's that are touting made from original master tapes all analog using tube equipment. Yes tube's make for better sound also. Fender and many other guitar amp companies are also offering tube models. Check out links below.

Long life to vinyl!

Open reel analog tape is also making a comeback and is actually better than vinyl. More dynamic range.

So many of the older technologies never really faded away. At our music store we have over 13000 vinyl, tapes and so on all for sale...

I agree a lot of digital stuff sounds fake. You miss the sense of being in the room or concert. Make me a part of the musical moment not just a consumer of it.

CD recorders basically turn analog sound into 1s and 0s. When you play back the CD it reads the 1s and 0s and says this is what it should sound like. No translation is ever exactly the same. Not to mention records properly taken care of will last almost forever unlike digital info which is very fragile. That's why the library of congress has a lot of important info and speeches on analog disks. They use Nitty Gritty record cleaning machines to clean copies before playing.
