Music Monday (feel free to add your own music)

in #music7 years ago (edited)

The aim is simple, to banish those Monday blues with an eclectic range of music chosen by Steemit friends both old and new.

Music Monday.jpg

Every Monday I intend to post a music video (and a few words explaining my choice) I invite you to join me by doing same in the comments section below. As the forum (hopefully) grows my aim is that we begin to inspire our fellow Steemians to broaden their musical horizons by listening to the music that inspires us. The only thing I ask is that (where possible) every song we listen to is played nice and loudly on headphones or speakers in order that we capture it’s true essence.

As more Steemians join this venture there is also going to be the possibility of being rewarded for our musical tastes via the amount of upvotes each song receives. That said please never feel awkward about posting a track, a guilty pleasure or even your own musical ventures. I have an extremely wide range of musical interests but also understand that music like beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder. As such I may play my chosen song, but who am I to define what constitutes good music.

Firstly this will probably be the last music monday of 2017 so I'd like to take this oppotunity to thank you for the support/music and wish you a fantastic Christmas and a New Year filled with health and happiness. My choice this week is a powerful instrumental track from Nightwish. I love the energy of this song, it's a perfect balance between power and beauty and having Celtic roots it speaks to my soul! I hope you enjoy.

This isn't about making me Steem so please save your upvotes and reward the songs that you feel are worthy, although equally if my song stands out to you then I'd appreciate the vote. Any resteems would be much appreciated, all are invited and welcomed to join us in sharing and listening to a diverse range of music.

Hey Man, this weeks offering is fucking genius.
Raw, prophetic lyrics and unbelievably creative use of the guitar.
Rage Against the Machine - Bullet in the Head.

Aaaarrrrggh! Makes me want to beat the shit out of a bankster! 🤘😝🤘

Man what a stone cold classic!! This is probably my favourite Rage Against The Machine Track .. so much venom and rawness. Absolutely timeless and in all honesty we need this style of anti-establishment music more now than ever!!

Exactly mate, these guys were well ahead of their time.
Tom Morello's guitaring is legendary, what an innovator!

Dope. What legends. I saw Rage on tour with Wu-Tang at the forum in Los Angeles around 20 years ago. Zach's delivery and lyrics coupled with Tom's guitar... untouchable! Great find.

That's fucking awesome dude.

Rise Up cover by Morissette Amon

I was scrolling through my feed and read share music so here I am!! Ive been recommending this song to everyone for the last 2 weeks. The way she sings it and feels the song..🙌🙌🙌

First time I heard it I cried like a baby.

Let me know your thoughts!

Wow! what a beautifully powerful yet fragile voice she has! I may have welled up just a little, but sssh don't tell anyone ;) She sings with such feeling and depth that it's impossible not to get swept away in a river of musical emotion, thank you for sharing!!

I don't know who she is, but what an awesome voice! Such passion in her singing!

Following last week's David Sylvian discussion, I thought I'd wallow in a bit of '80s New Age nostalgia and post the eerily beautiful Ghosts by Japan.
Apologies as I'm a bit late for Monday – too much Christmas socialising.

Hey @natubat no problem my friend, I'm also having one of those weeks :D Loving the ethereal soundscape on this one, almost a genre of it's own. Excellent choice!!

I'm sharing this because it's awesome, and it's seasonally appropriate. :-)

Hey @amberyooper what a brilliant Christmas choice and what a great voice, I like your style, thank you for sharing!! :D

Because the Nightwish song opened with the pipes it had an Irish feel for me. So I thought I would post a song from Stockton's Wing, however I chose this Ali Farka Toure tune because to me I can hear similarities to Irish and European music...peace

Hey @onetruebrother another great and unexpected track. thanks for sharing! I really enjoyed this!! For some strange reason the guitar reminds of a Louisiana style guitar picking, and for me that's a great thing :D This is not a piece of music that I would have found via my own volition so thank you for sharing. Oh the video wouldn't play but I found it on youtube.

Hey there glad you enjoyed it. All my life I have taken pleasure in playing songs for people that they may not have heard before. Happy to have found your weekly thread because now I get to hear music that I would not have found on my own! Peace

"All my life I have taken pleasure in playing songs for people that they may not have heard before." You're doing a fantastic job my friend, keep it up because the thread is a brighter place with you in it, thanks for the music. I will add a musicmonday tag next year.

Back when Flea played with them. Love the addition of the steel drums too.

Man, I'm loving this track! Cool as fuck!! what more can I add?? Seriously though it's been a long time since I've heard these guys so I really appreciate the share.

i guess everyone should read this fine post so cool for everyone !!!

Wow,rockster✌✌
