Learn to DJ - Part 2 - The Chirp Scratch

in #music8 years ago

The Chirp Scratch is a two step open crossfader scratch pattern. First, this scratch requires the DJ to close the crossfader as soon as a sound is heard. Simultaneously, the record hand moves the record in one direction. The process is reversed in the second step. The crossfader is opened quickly at the same time the opposite hand moves the record to the beginning position.

The record hand is performing Baby Scratches in forward and reverse positions. See the previous post if you need to review. You can vary the pitch of the sound by increasing or decreasing the speed in which the record hand moves.

Watch the tutorial below for instruction. If you have any questions, please leave comments in the reply area.

Thanks, DJ Yo!
