Una serendipia es un descubrimiento totalmente casual que lleva a una experiencia de felicidad o disfrute. ¡Y la tuve cuando menos lo esperaba!

A serendipity is a completely casual discovering that leads to a enjoyment or happy experience. And I had one when I wasn’t expecting it at all!

Esta semana mientras me dedicaba a buscar algo que escuchar en Youtube, encontré una sugerencia que podría haber ignorado… Si no fuera por el llamativo arte gráfico de la miniatura del video, el cual me recordó bastante a la película ”Donde viven los monstruos”.
Con el simple título de “Julio y Agosto (2011)” como invitación, me aventuré a esta experiencia inolvidable.

This week while I was dedicated to find some music to listen on Youtube, I found a suggested video that I can easily have ignored… If it didn’t had that amazing graphic art on the miniature of the video, that reminded me a lot of "Where the Wild Things Are". With a very simple title as Julio y Agosto (2011) (July and August, 2011) as an invitation, I ventured to this unforgettable experience.

Un bastante difícil de explicar, pero a la vez fácilmente disfrutable estilo fue lo que encontré. Tengo desde principios de año adentrándome de lleno en el maravilloso mundo del género musical indie folk y a pesar de haber escuchado una gran cantidad de agrupaciones, esta tuvo un sabor diferente a todas. Su sonido es relajante, nostálgico, feliz, pacífico, tropical y familiar a la vez. Si cierro mis ojos escuchándolos, puedo llegar a sentir la felicidad de los recuerdos de la infancia, cuando viajaba en carro con mi papá y la brisa se colaba por la ventana, moviendo mi cabello.

A very hard to explain but quite easily enjoyable style is what I found. Since the beginning of this year I’ve been fully entering to the wonderful world of the musical genre known as indie folk and despite I have listened to tons of bands, this one had a different taste from each one of them. Their sound is relaxing, nostalgic, happy, peaceful, tropical and familiar at the same time. If I close my eyes while listening to Julio y Agosto I can feel the happiness of my childhood memory, when I travelled by car with my dad and the breeze entered through the window to wave my hair.

Esta banda proviene de Argentina y comenzó como un proyecto gráfico que subían a internet, antes, incluso, de pensar en crear una formación musical. El nombre de “Julio y Agosto” proviene de dos mosquitos, protagonistas de un cómic que ilustraban. En el año 2007 se juntan en la ciudad de Buenos Aires y van añadiendo a la agrupación instrumentos como guitarra, contrabajo, violín, piano, sintetizadores, mandolinas, trombón y batería. Su primer álbum, por el cual los descubrí, al igual que ”El ritmo de las cosas” (2013) fueron subidos a internet y ya en 2014 se lanzaban a su primera gira programada en el interior de su país natal y por varios países de Europa.

This band is native from Argentina and started as a graphic project that was posted on the Internet even before the idea of creating a music band. The name ”Julio y Agosto” is the name of two mosquitoes that were the main characters on a comic they worked on. In 2007 they gather in Buenos Aires city and start joining members to play the guitar, counterbass, violin, piano, synthesizers, mandolin, trombone and battery. Their first album, the one that helped me to discover them, just as ”El ritmo de las cosas (2013)” (The rhythm of things, 2013), were uploaded to the internet and in 2014 they were touring through their native country and many countries from Europe.

Desde que terminé de escuchar el primer álbum, reproduje el siguiente y el siguiente hasta que los escuché todos en una sola noche. A continuación, dejo los álbumes, publicados en Youtube, por orden de lanzamiento, espero los disfrutes:

Since I finished listening to their first album I just played the next one and so on until I have listened to all of them in one night. Here I’ll leave the albums for you to listen on Youtube, they are ordered by release date and I sincerely tell you that you don’t need to know any spanish to enjoy their musicality and get their chilling vibes.
