Knowing Ed Sheeran
Stars on Earth... Episode 1
John and Imogen Sheeran (London-born couples) on September 17, 1991, had a miracle in the form of a starboy at Halifax, West Yorkshire.
John, an art curator , a lecturer from an Irish lineage and Imogen, a culture publicist turned jewellery designer both operated an independent art consultancy in the 90's. Edward Christopher Sheeran grew in good shape and had a good taste for music even at tender age at Framlingham, Suffolk. John in his quest to bring out the best in Edward took him to a number of live concerts that would later inspire his musical creations including seeing Eric Clapton (who Edward admired the most) at the Royal Albert Hall, Paul McCartney in Birmingham.
Edward started singing in a local church choir from the age of four, learnt how to play the guitar during his time at Rishworth School and began writing songs while at High School(Thomas Mills) in Framlingham. At eleven, he had the chance to see a show by Damien Rice in Ireland. In addition to Rice, he had also chanced on The Beatles, Dylan, Nizlopi and Eminem as his biggest musical influences. His influence landed him a role at the National Youth Theatre in London even as a teenager.
Edward had started recording music already in 2004, where he independently released his first collection of work, Spinning Man. Fellow English singer, Passenger, had been his pal since age 15, with the two playing on the same gig in Cambridge. He relocated to London in 2008, and began playing in small pubs. He auditioned for the ITV series, Britannia High. In the latter parts of 2009, Christopher began studying music as an undergraduate at the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford, Surrey , though no one knows as at now how long he remained at the college.
He had gained lot of audience after a few videos of his perfomances been shared on YouTube. Sheeran released another independent EP, No. 5 Collaborations Project which gained him a massive attention for reaching number 2 on the iTunes chart without any promotion or label, selling up to over 7,000 copies only in its first week. He later started putting on free outdoor shows to display his music prowess. Sheeran later on signed to Asylum Records.
The Birth of Edward's International Success
I have always been contemplating on how he chooses his album title, a question I have not had an answer to for sometime now.
Sheeran had his international breakthrough on April,2011 when he first performed his debut single The A-Team which was part of his sixteen tracked album(Plus).
