ROCK CALENDAR: February 11, 1935-in the United States was born gene Vincent, a pioneer of rock and roll
This guy couldn't imagine his life without rock and roll. Fate did not spare him – in 20 years, he received a decent prize and bought a motorcycle. Naturally welled up and severely injured his left leg. Doctors wanted to amputate, but mother didn't give. The leg was preserved, but all his life he was tormented by chronic pain. On stage, he was running and jumping like hell, holding onto painkillers. Not only that, in the 60th, on tour with Eddie Cochran, he was with him in a car accident – Eddie to death, and he again got on the left knee.
One of his songs - "Be Bop A Lula" - became a world classic and brought him money and fame. But he had other great songs too
Gene died in 1971 of gastric ulcer perforation.
