Dancehall movement!!

Il Dancehall (chiamato anche semplicemente Dancehall o Bashment), è un sottogenere della musica reggae sviluppatosi attorno al 1979 in Giamaica. Si sostituitì nel 1970 al rockers che era uno stile un po diverso che aveva dominato tutto il 70 .
Uno dei primi artisti dancehall fu Barrington Levy nel 1979, cantando su tracce rub a dub con toasting, successivamente verso la metà degli anni 80 si inizia a diffondere il raggamuffin, ovvero la dancehall costruita su basi elettroniche. La struttura musicale del dancehall infatti venne costruita su un ritmo reggae digitale, spesso con l'aggiunta di una drum machine.
Una delle prime tracce che celebra questo nuovo genere è "Under Mi Sleng Teng" di Wayne Smith , composta con sintetizzatori e drum digitale.
La dancehall quindi vede anche lo sviluppo una parte cantata e non più parlata come il toasting .
Sicuramente tutto iniziò con Barrington Levy, fu spinto da Henry "Junjo" Lawes produttore che fece conoscere al mondo la dancehall per mezzo di barrington levy , Junior Reid e Frankie Paul facendoli diventare star.

The Dancehall (also called simply Dancehall or Bashment) is a subset of reggae music developed around 1979 in Jamaica. It was replaced in 1970 by rockers that was a somewhat different style that had dominated the whole 70.
One of the first dancehall artists was Barrington Levy in 1979, singing on dubbing tracks with a toasting dub, then in the mid-1980s he began to spread the raggamuffin, or dancehall built on electronic bases. The dancehall musical structure was built on a digital reggae rhythm, often with the addition of a drum machine.
One of the first tracks to celebrate this new genre is "Under Mi Sleng Teng" by Wayne Smith, composed by synthesizers and digital drum.
The dancehall also sees the development of a sung song and no longer talked about like roasting.
Definitely everything started with Barrington Levy, was pushed by Enrico "Junjo" Lawes producer who made the dancehall dance band through the barrington record, Junior Reid and Frankie Paul making them star.

Questo genere prese il nome dalla dancehall, un grande spazio dove i dj montavano i sound system e la gente si ritrovava per ballare la musica in Giamaica. Questa musica venne anche chiamata bashment, un termine riferito alla musica stessa o alle grandi feste dove veniva suonata.

This genre got its name from dancehall, a great space where djs mounted sound systems and people found themselves dancing to music in Jamaica. This music was also called bashment, a term related to the music itself or the big parties where it was played.

anche Sugar Minott, in coppia con Clement "Coxsone" Dodd, iniziarono a riprendere i vecchi riddim dell'epoca d'oro degli Studio One. Altri cantanti che emersero nella prima ondata dancehall furono Don Carlos, Al Campbell, e Triston Palmer, mentre nomi già affermati come Gregory Isaacs e Bunny Wailer abbracciarono con successo lo stile che era nato.

Nella dancehall dobbiamo comprendere generi come il rub a dub , una dub cantata che ha reso famosissimi cantanti come Yellowman e Eek-a-Mouse , di cui il primo firmò con una label americana che gli fece ottenere quasi lo stesso successo di Bob Marley.
Durante i primi anni 80 si assiste anche all'emersione di dj donne, con Lady Saw, Sister Nancy, e Shelly Thunder.
Subito dopo levy ci furono Michael Prophet, Tony Tuff e Johnny Osbourne, successivamente arrivarono Half Pint ,Dennis Brown , Tenor Saw, Nitty Gritty, King Kong, Anthony Red Rose e Pad Anthony, Cocoa Tea , Beres Hammond, Garnet Silk, Richie Stephens, Luciano.

Dagli anni 90, alcuni artisti gangsta rap cominciarono ad introdurre sonorità dancehall sfruttando la sua velocità. Oggi il dancehall reggae è un genere affermato e artisti come Sean Paul, Shaggy e Benie Man sono molto popolari all'interno della scena rap. I ritmi della dancehall contribuirono inoltre allo sviluppo del drum & bass e altri generi di musica elettronica.

Resta il mio genere preferito , per le sensazioni e il divertimento con cui lo suono e con cui lo ballo, ovviamente anche perchè le donne amano da morire questo genere , sfiderei chiunque a non ballare su un Bam Bam riddim o su un bashment party di Raven e Red Fox!!!
