In Italy a strong Disco movement took place in the late 70ies / early 80ies of the last century - similar to other movements especially in Europe. Italo-disco is a genre of pop music originated in Italy. The origin is strongly tied to marketing efforts of the ZYX record label who promoted this outside Italy from 1982 onwards. The music was involving a lot of drum machines, synthesizers, and occasionally vocoders.
As an example of the genre a song by Ryan Paris. Ryan is an Italian singer born as Fabio Roscioli, this song Dolce Vita written by Gazebo is a killer on the dance floor still!
