Music 4 Peace Concert on Mahatma Gandhi's Birthday in Nepal, Kathmandu

in #music6 years ago (edited)

I would like share with all you Steemians one of the most amazing event I had the honor to produce and perform, in the Himalaya in Nepal. I was in Nepal helping to lunch the Nepal Music Festival, a group of entrepreneurs that had the project to start a Festival to bring Nepal together after the war. Nepal Music Festival was a great success in terms of Pop and Rock music.
But I was so inspired from some of the folk musicians I met wile traveling in Nepal, that I started with artist Friend (Shyam Nepali) to put together the Music 4 Peace Concert at the most exiting and ancient cultural venue. The UNESCO Heritage suite Durbar Square Lalitpur in Nepal.

Music for Peace Concert at UNESCO Heritage suite Durbar Square Lalitpur, Nepal celebrating Mahatma Gandhi's 143rd birthday on Oct 2nd United Nation's International Day of Nonviolence, with a global live broadcast on Peace Day TV, the official broadcaster of the United Nation's International Day of Peace.

We had only tree weeks to put the Concert on, and it was very hard to convince the Police that it will not be a security risk as it was open free for the audience to participate. We had amazing local artists from the Internationally well known Rudra Band to young Nepali folk band Maya. As well I performed "The Gandhi Program" a special multi media performance using unreleased archival audio and video footage of Mahatma Gandhi.

This Program comes with the blessing of Dr. Arun Gandhi grandson of the late Mahatma Gandhi. With Dr. Arun Gandhi and my band 1001 Ways we lunched the Gandhi Tour with the “Gandhi Program” at Earthdance Peace Festival in California in 2007.

It was an indescribable experience to celebrate Peace true Music in country that just stopped the war! All the participating artists impressed me so much with there dedication to share there music, as they all performed for free.
