For Everyone

It's time to share some more great music from the good old South Africa, and this band hails from my home town of Cape Town. Van Coke Kartel was actually a side project of the band Fokofpolisiekar when the two main member Francois and Wynand decided to do something similar but sort of different while they were on hiatus. The did well right off the bat as there wasn't really much of a difference musically between the two bands, and their entire fan base loved the new project. They churned out track after track and they worked their asses off, playing 1-2 two shows across the country a week, which is pretty huge for South Africa. The band is also Afrikaans and stick to their mother langue in all there work, which is a pretty niche market here, when 90% of our country is mostly speak traditional African languages. This also goes to show just how dedicated their fan base here is, because it's not easy with such a specific language genre.

Francois Van Coke and Wynand Myburgh formed Van Coke Kartel with drummer Justin Kruger after Fokofpolisiekar went on hiatus in 2007. Guitarist Jedd Kossew originally from the band 7th Son and drummer Jason Oosthuizen joined as full members in 2010. However in 2014, Jason Oosthuizen left the band.
