Top 5 free resources for musicians and audio people

in #music8 years ago (edited)

Are you a musician of any kind?... A sound engineer or audio head? ...

Well... than this post is for you.

I wish I had seen this post years ago so I could save hours upon hours of youtube/ website search, resulting in finding , not so great content.

This si a list of five, five start websites that will bring you an immense value for free. Yes you have information here that can make your skill level explode (if you dedicate yourself, of course)

So here they are, my top 5 website recommendation for musicians.

1: The Recording Revolution

This is one of my favourites, I've been in the newsletter for years and if I could only listen to one website this would be it.

It's more focused in home studio owners and how you can make great sounding music in your own place.

It's full of recording /editing tricks, but the main point is the philosophy shared in it. Graham (the owner) gives you many good advice that can actually be implemented in life, but in a home studio context. Such as , how to actually get your music made, how to find pockets of time and one thing I like about him, is that he does not preach the gear talk.

Anywhere you look, you will find people talking about the new interface or the new plug ins.. not here... actually here you will find, more often, the opposite. Like how you can start making cool and good sounding music with a a 300 dollar studio.

Could not recommend it more:

Have a look.

2: Pensado's Place

This is also a must for any sound head. Dave Pensado is a mater recorder and mixer, he has worked with many top of the poops artists that you've heard about.

He is a fountain and never ending pit of information and he gives it a lot to you, for free in his channel. It's amazing, he has podcasts, interviews with top sound mixers and musicians.

It's focused mainly in the technical aspect of mixing and recording.

Really, do not miss this one.

3: Pure Mix

Another site you won't regret. This french man has worked with some huge names and he has some exceptional educational videos and great interviews.

A lot of his videos are paid (and they are worth every penny) but he has some for free that will be worth your time.

All about mix and recording techniques.

4 Home studio Corner

This one is very similar to "The Recording Revolution", in fact, both men who ran them are good friends.

They also have a podcast together. Home studio corner also has it's won podcast.

5 The Pro Audio Files

Also another site on the technical side. In here you can find nice tips about mixing, recording, mastering and producing.

Give it a try.
