The origin of musical notes.

in #music7 years ago (edited)

Some time ago I read a very interesting article about the musical tuning that would be the original and correct according to some studies. I remember that it said something about the basic tuning that we know at 440Hz is not the one we should use but the original tuning that supposedly is at 432Hz, this is through a well elaborated explanation but nevertheless left me many doubts about it. In this review I was involved until Nazi Germany with Joseph Goebbels to the modification of thoughts by means of tuning. A madness of hypothesis that we do not know if it can be true.

Note. The tuning 440 refers to the note '' A ''.

Anyway, I kept reading a little more but I do not remember the reasons why the tuning would be used at 440 or 432Hz and this whole thing. But then I was struck by another article where the name of each note came from.

Religion and the Music.

Music is at first very associated with religion, it is said that music has its origin not on earth, but in the heavens. In fact the biblical story names that even before the creation of the human being there was a being called Lucifer who was a Cherub, who with his simple movement of walking resounded in the heavens musical sounds of praise to God, this of course before his rebellion against its creator. Besides this is mentioned in the book of Genesis who was the principal or father of all those last musicians who populated the earth, a man named Jubal, son of Cain. (Appointment in Genesis 4.21)

The man of notes. Guido D'Arezzo

Already a little later in the story in the eleventh century, we find a Catholic monk named Guido D'Arezzo who would be attributed the fact of putting names to each note, calling this method in a future solfeggio. This denomination would do it through some syllables that would take from a Canticle that was dedicated to Juan El Bautista. Which said:

Ut queant laxisUt (replaced by Do)
Re sonare fibrisRe
Mira gestorumMi
Famuli torumFa
Solve pollutiSol
Labii reatumLa
Sancte IohannesSi

Said writing meant:
'' That your servants may exalt the wonders of your miracles to full lungs, forgive the lack of impure lips, San Juan ''

This master monk is also credited with the beginning of what we know today as the pentagram among others, for which he would give a great contribution and would change for good the course of the music that we know today.
