The Story Of Psarantonis (Ψαραντώνης), the "Bob Dylan" Of Crete - Traditional Music Is At Its Best!
Ever wondered how Nikos "The Great" Kazantzakis ("Zorba The Greek", "The Last Temptation Of Christ", "Freedom Or Death") would sound as a musician? Antonis Xylouris (A.K.A. Psarantonis) would be the absolute answer, a Greek composer and singer.
According to Greek Mythology, ZEUS, who ruled as king of the gods of Mount Olympus, was born in Crete. Most Greeks embrace Psarantonis (also a Cretan) as the incarnation of The God Zeus.
Psarantonis, inherited his nickname from his grandfather. The word "Psara" means "fish". His grandfather was known as the master "thief catcher" in his village, in Crete, so not a single "fish" was allowed to escape.
Well, it seems Crete is THE CRADLE for the non-ordinary. This is simply one of the most special artists I have ever listened in my life. What a mad soul he is!
