The fact of the day: Why does music sometimes get creepy?

in #music6 years ago

Everyone must have seen how in a moment of danger the cat's hair rises on end: so the animal seems larger and more terrible for a possible enemy. Such a reaction with strong experiences is triggered by the autonomic nervous system, which is responsible for functions beyond our will. When listening to music, there may also be quite acute experiences of aesthetic properties that excite the nervous system. Wool, however, the people did not remain, but the skin has small hairs that tend to rise. For this, the muscles of the hair follicles are shortened, which causes shivers ("goosebumps").
