SoundHound - An App You Need to Find Music

in #music7 years ago

I have no idea how it works but imagine this.

You listen to radio and hear some amazing track and you want to know what it is.. - you run this app while music plays!

You remember sounds of some song but cant find it... - you run this app and try to sing this!

Its not a new app but i am sure many people may not know it and its a life saver.

So download it for your phone and never ever ask people "Do you know what tune is playing?" just run it and get the artist and name right away.

For popular music it works 100% good and fast, with some drum n bass i had issues finding. Could been Dj mixes or less known tracks.

I've been using Soundhound for years. It can be good, but it's unfortunate when you really want to identify a rare tune, and it's not in the database.

Thanks kingsmind...I'm in the wireless business myself, and have quite a bit of experience with various apps across both IOS and Android, and SoundHound does work great, but recommend the paid version to get rid of all the spam and ads that pop up. Some other great alternatives that I've used are Shazam, where you can just point your phone towards the source of the music and it'll tell you the name of the song, MusixMatch has the World’s Largest Lyrics catalog and official - Music Player, Lyrics identifier, Lyrics Search, Lyrics Sharing - UNLIMITED Lyrics identification via MUSIC ID, and BeatSense... which lets you discover great music, hand-picked real people, in a single click, free and in real-time! Check it out...you might like these as well.

I've found SoundHound so handy over the years.
When I first downloaded it we used to play a game of who can sing a song well enough for SoundHound to accurately identify it.

Actually you can programm someting like this on your own. In basic version it won't be very robust against noises etc. You have to capture the microphone input apply discrete fourier transformation and at this point you will have data which can be compared to other songs.

thanks for the post.. Let me check it out. I resteemed and upvoted

Great job!!!

I might be missing something, but isn't Shazam the more popular version of this app? Shazam's free, works 99% of the time and you can get lyrics, connect with spotify, etc... it's been around for a while.
