Young Thug - Barter 6

Young Thug's 2016 release, Barter 6, is the best rap album released this year so far. Thugger is very hard to understand vocally which is probably a good thing, because his lyrics involve having sex with your woman, having sex with women in order to induct them into the gang, shooting you, shooting your mother, and yes, even shooting your father! Thugger goes on to rap about drugs, money, and of course his own genitalia.

Thugger heavily embraces the Internet releasing an Official Video for nearly every song. Even after his April 2016 release, this kid continues to write, direct, perform and produce more content at incredible speeds. All while touring and making a BUNDLE of cash. His videos are dark, often creepy, show a great deal of gang activity and many times depict young children throwing up gang signs.

Despite my review, I don't want you to think that this album is pure evil for $10.00 at Amazon. Young Thug is having a good time here, he dances, he plays around a lot and can be quite funny. Below, Thugger piles up a stack of cash like it is a cell phone? C'mon folks, this is pretty silly, funny stuff.

Therefore, this is some pretty raw creativity in culture here folks, so don't mind the violence and vulgarity. Just try to appreciate the creativity that is absolutely pouring out of this kid.

In some of my previous posts, I have discussed how and when artists add complexity to their music and Thugger does this purely with his lyrics. Sure, you can barely understand a single word he says but that is intentional. There are numerous secret codes, and gang slang so thick that it takes a great deal of research to actually figure out what he is saying. This complexity is how Thugger does his own version of multi finger tapping on the guitar because he raps at incredible speeds with amazing grace and accuracy in timing.
