song 3: The Leftovers - The Departure suite. Composed by Max Richter.

How does humanity react to the disappearance of two percent of the world's population? When the stroller is suddenly empty, or your partner suddenly no longer sits in front of you in the restaurant? That is the starting point of The Leftovers, based on Tom Perrotta's book.

Damon Lindelof (also the brain behind Lost), made this drama series, aired on HBO. In the first two seasons, we saw how the Garvey family tries to process this inexplicable drama. Police officer Kevin (Justin Theroux) begins to hallucinate - or does it really happen? - and his wife Laurie (Amy Brenneman) goes to a chain smoking sect. As we zoom out, we see how man loses faith in religion, becomes more boundless and even goes to terrorism.

The Leftovers is 'ink-black' because you can see which horror people are capable of when they are out of control. Others remain hopeful, even though they never come to know where ‘the departed’ did go.
Lindelof confuses the viewer with realistic-looking hallucinations and an absurdistic reality. It's a creepy pathway, but you will never see something like this again on TV, so cherish it.
