It's quite ironic, honestly. Knowing each someone's heart is ideal and perfect when you're in a relationship with that person. That is the danger of knowing someone at that level because being familiar with a person in that sense is intimate and it often means that you care a great deal about him and with care comes pain. The more you care about a person, the greater the possibility of a great deal of pain he can inflict to you.
Love = Pain = Trust
That's the beauty of loving someone though. Admitting that you feel something for him means admitting that he can hurt you and by admitting so, you're also telling him that you trust him not to hurt you. Love isn't just a feel-good kind of thing, it is an investment and like all investments it's risky that's why I salute people who are courageous enough to transact in investments like so, 'coz for me, it takes guts to be admit to someone that he has power over you.
This song is about someone who's questioning herself why she's stuck in one of the worst kinds of love, the one-sided ones. It's a painful kind of love of having that great feelings for someone who only considers you a friend. Every one of us probably experienced this kind of love at least one time in our life and we all know it sucks. We often ask ourselves why the heck would we fall for someone who doesn't feel the same way and looks at us like a buddy, someone who we trust, someone who we can rely on.
Well the question is the answer itself. For me friendship is the best kind of relationship and to fall for someone who's your friend is a pretty scary thing. But we can't help it sometimes because that friend is someone whom we already know to have our back and care for us, we already know how he can be as person, a friend, a brother or a lover.
Though when we know that we can never cross the line of friendship, it hurts and rocks the friendship a little bit. But locking your feelings away, no matter how hard it may be, is better to stop that rocking of your friendship before that ship turn over upside down.
Often times, the hardest decisions are the best ones. You just have to look past the pain and see what it's good for in the future.
