Even though this song is about patriotism, the words I hear is of blind faith. Sometimes, not caring what the consequences are. Not weighting all the pros and cons. A horse with blinders just going forward, sometimes straight for the edge of the cliff and over. The momentum picks up, the ball keeps rolling, faster and faster down the hill, crushing everything in its path, no mercy for anything or anyone that stands in its way.

"A cell-phones-in-the-air anthem" is what MTV News reviewer called it. The second single from their 8th album 21st Century Breakdown, was one of the highest charting in their career. Sadly it was on e of their last too.
