Innersound Music Blog - Episode 1

in #music7 years ago (edited)

Hi guys, so i thought i would start a new blog series on music and the varied tracks i come across every day in my spare time. I have been producing music for 15 years but my life at the moment consists solely of earning money to then put into crypto, to then fund my lifelong goal which i will begin this summer, and even though i am on a break from making music, i am still a huge listener and will forever be discovering new music.

In the meantime, I would love to share some top quality electronic music by artists from across the board, some well known and others that deserve way more attention. There is soooooo much electronic music i come across that blows my mind on a daily basis. I also think there is a HUGE market gap on the blockchain for electronic music creation and sharing, but most notably the creation part.

Anyway, as you may know i'm really into my drum and bass, but i will listen to anything in truth.

Episode 1.. ENJOY!!!

Adam Emil

I came across Adam's music while listening to a bunch of lo-fi house music on soundcloud sometime last month. I was instantly taken by his music, maybe it's his melodies, they are infectious and just his overall production levels are pristine. Adam obviously incorporates a wide variety of musical influences within his creations, old skool, detroit, jungle, acid house, lo-fi and countless more. His track "nordhavn" takes me places that lift me up. I'm a huge fan that is for sure!

MR.K

I don't know a whole lot about Mr.K other than the fact his music is fucking brilliant! what i do know is that Mr.K hails from Bristol, UK and makes quality dubstep. I've always considered Bristol the birth place of dubstep, true dubstep that is. The city has long been a hotbed of musical innovation, especially when it comes to underground electronic music, most notably drum & bass and dubstep. Check out Mr.K, follow him on soundcloud and everywhere else you find him!

Calibre

Trust me when i say this, Calibre is in my opinion the greatest producer/musician the world of drum & bass has ever seen. Now, i am going to do a entire blog post on this man and his art very soon, so stay tooned for that! Calibre aka Dominic Martin has been producing the most soulful drum & bass and other genres for over 20 years and to me his music seems to get better and better with every passing year.

Also, if there is anyone within the underground music scene that is consistently putting out incredible music one after the other, then it is Calibre, just have a peak into his back catalogue and you'll realize how special and just how much of an impact this man's music has had on the drum and bass music scene over the years. Calibre is without a shadow of a doubt my greatest musical influence. Here is a taste of what is to come in my forthcoming blog..

Paul Woolford

I knew of Paul Woolford for a while, but only came across this infectious techno masterpiece a couple of weeks ago, and boy was i blown away! i may of listened to this track over 100 times in the last 2 weeks. nuff said! Remiscent of the old skool, the good old raves, good times, perhaps it's that piano hook that rests so sublimely over that bassline. Check it out! MDMA was released on the hotflush label, which in itself is one of the best labels out there for electronic music. The symbol reminds me a bit of the EOS logo too. Probably just me though.

How can i not dance to this!

Lenzman & Riya

These two work so well together, you have the tight, soulful productions of Lenzman aka Teije van Vliet, a dutch producer signed to the legendary Metalheadz label run by Goldie. Lenzman has been consistently producing the deepest plates for a hot minute, while the vocal talents of Riya are undeniably sublime. For me, Riya is one of my favorite singers and MC's and i could listen to her all day over a drum & bass beat. As i say, these two have worked together many times over the years. Lenzman's warm, melodic basslines that penetrate the innermost aspect of your soul work so well in tandem with the infectious vocal talents of Riya, making these guys a winning combination in my opinion! Both of these artists have also done some incredible work outside of drum & bass too.

Stay tuned for episode 2, not forgetting i will be dropping a blog post.. or rather, a huge testament to Calibre very soon also.

Thanks for stopping by!

With love,
Jon.

What up Jon!!! Only artist you mentioned I knew was Paul Woolford...so I’ve been jamming your selections in the van for a sec while on yet another long drive to a gig. Righteous dude. You are absolutely right that, at least on steemit, electronic music is severely underrepresented. I’ve been regularly searching and posting to #electronucmusic and seeing the same folks. Stoked to see more content from you.

I’ve been jamming eurorack synth and live drums on here. Definitely upping my solo content creation specifically because I also recognize the total vacancy/opportunity steemit presents for electronic artists!

Nice mate, yeah there are some great electronic and non electronic musicians on steem although it is still underrepresented for sure, i just think that the creation part, as in, software, is a hugely underdeveloped part of blockchain tech, like hasn't anyone thought of reason, logic, native instruments type software on the blockchain yet? i've seen streaming on the blockchain and that is huge because centralized corpses like spotify and the like are a scam for individual artists like me and you. I will check out your music mate, thanks for stopping by :)

If blockchain technology does liternally nothing more than destroy spotify and put the lions share of royalties back in the pocket of the artist in freshly minted crypto, it will be enough to satisfy me. My main project, Maserati, does excellent numbers on there and gets comedy-zone checks for it.

I feel the same and i see that happening in time. The middleman's game is up, hopefully in all sectors too, but yes even just in the music industry, i'd be satisfied as well.
