Gideon’s Daughter (founded by married couple Brad and Lisa Petit) is best described as an Experimental Americana group out of Wenatchee, WA. They list their influences as Cyndi Lauper, Bon Iver, The Civil Wars, Radiohead, The Beatles, Dave Brubeck, and Phish. With those influences how could you not take a listen? This thoughtfully artistic group is worth it. Read on…

Gideon’s Daughter

The song “Sargasso Sea” is about a tumultuous relationship between two lovers and their struggle to come to terms with how much damage they’ve inflicted on each other. The song is well written and has a video professionally produced with actors. And I LOVE IT! Very creative both musically and visually. Most of the time when I see a 7 minute song I get impatient…not so with this one.

The band prides themselves on their improvisational performances. I would love to see them live as I can’t put my finger on any group they sound anything like. The blend of male and female vocals over the organ and acoustic guitar are splendid. Lisa’s voice is perfectly placed throughout the song and the guitar/uke parts compliment their voices together, especially in the chorus sections.
