If you are a frequent listener of your local Top 40 station, this may not be for you. But if you are looking for something different you have found it.
For something to provide the perfect background music to a contemplative walk around a lake or perhaps a good cry after a confusing day, then Gerard Emes has got you covered.
His specialty is instrumental musical landscapes that don’t follow a traditional musical structure. It’s very free form and open. It’s quite interesting but it takes a lot of patience to really get into it and enjoy it.

You really have to clear your schedule, sit back, put on your headphones and let the music take you to new places. Sometimes it takes a while to get where it’s going, but the payoff is always worth it. Gerard’s “Desolation” for example is a true lesson in dissonance. The haunting organ tones in the background provide the perfect amount of tension that keeps you engaged while the guitar explores different melodic excerpts. This tune could not have a more perfect title. It truly makes you feel like you are alone in a dark room somewhere nondescript.
